The Lower Heidelberg Township Police Department is on alert 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, protecting you, your family and your property. The Non-emergency line for the Police Department(Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:oo PM, ) is 610-678-3011. The Non-Emergency line (After 3:00 PM Monday – Friday or weekends and holidays) call 610-655-4911.
If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call 911 immediately. Calling the Township Building will delay the response time of the officers.
The Township uses an Emergency Alert System called CodeRED. This system will enable residents and businesses to add or update their contact information to ensure they will be included when an alert message is sent – unlisted numbers, mobile numbers, TDD/TTY can all be entered. If you do not have computer access, please call the Township office and we will be happy to get you signed up for phone alerts.
Also, Berks County runs a similar Emergency Alert System called Berks Alert, Alerts can be sent to your cell phone, smart phone, email and pagers. It is free to sign up for Berks Alert, but please note that your wireless carrier may charge you a fee to get messages on your cell phone or wireless device. Contact your carrier to find out how much these messages may cost you with your current plan. For more information about this service please visit their site at BerksAlert.com.
If your home has an alarm system, please make sure it is registered with the Police Department. There is a one time $10 fee to register your system. The permit can be found under “Permits”.
Lower Heidelberg Township has a code of ordinances to help ensure public health and safety. The code has been modified over the years to meet the changes of an active, growing community. If you are planning on adding or altering any part of your home or property, please check with our codes department first to see if permits are required for the work you have planned; you may call 610-777-1311 to speak to the Code Enforcement office.
