Western Berks Fire Department was formed in August 2009 when individual fire companies from Wernersville, Sinking Spring, Fritztown and Lower Heidelberg merged to become Berks County Company 18. The coverage area encompasses 32 square miles across its first due, provides service to over 22,000 residents, industrial areas, educational facilities, agricultural facilities, major rail and highway transportation corridors and a number of hazardous materials facilities.

Police
If you have a police emergency, dial 9-1-1.
The Lower Heidelberg Township Police Department is on alert 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, protecting you, your family and your property. If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call 911 immediately. Calling the Township Building will delay the response time of the officers.
Non-Emergency line for the Police Department (M-F, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm) call 610-678-3011. The Non-Emergency Police Department (After 3:00 pm Monday – Friday or weekends and holidays) call 610-655-4911.
The police department will perform property checks while you’re on vacation. Please fill out a form at the police department.
Anyone who has a home alarm system needs to have a permit on file with the police department. There is a one-time registration fee of $10 to register your system. Download the application in this section.
The curfew for children under 18 is 10:00 pm till 6:00 am.

WESTERN BERKS EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS)

Western Berks Ambulance Association provides both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support emergency services to a 120+ square mile area in Western Berks County, Pennsylvania. We operate 15 ambulances, 9 wheelchair vans, 2 mental health vehicles and five Supervisor’s vehicles out of four stations.
Our staff of highly trained Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians handle thousands of emergency calls and non-emergency transports per year. The service area, call volume, staff, and the types of service we offer make us the largest non-profit ambulance service in Berks County. Our service area consists of a diverse rural/suburban area with both high and low populations.
