Recently, the Board of Supervisors completed an extensive search for our new Township Manager Brian Cole. With the assistance from the Center for Excellence in Local Government at Albright College in the recruitment and hiring process, Brian was the successful candidate matching the skills sought by the Board with his career success. Brian was the Borough Manager for Kenhorst since 2019 and has documented success in creating and implementing systems and procedures to make local government more responsive to residents. In addition, during his tenure at Kenhorst, he grew existing revenue sources without raising taxes and implemented many cost saving contracts and services for the Borough Council.
Prior to working at Kenhorst, Brian was a 17-year veteran of the Reading Police Department rising to the rank of Lieutenant prior to his retirement in 2019. Brian brings with him all of his Berks County knowledge and connections. He is a father to three kids and lives in Bern Township – 2 miles from Lower Heidelberg.
As a part of the hiring process Brian underwent an extensive background review and has a spotless career record. When asked to describe himself Brian said he is a committed father, an avid golfer, and a motivated and directed municipal manager. He further noted that he is looking forward to some of the same challenges he faced at Kenhorst building a new staff, improving communications, maintaining the strong financial position of the Township, and creating a friendly and responsive Township Building for all Lower Heidelberg stakeholders.
