Since we’re now a couple weeks into the new year with the new trash/recycling haulers (JP Mascaro) working in the Township, we have things that may help with pick up issues that have taken place.
Remember that the calendar of pickup dates was initially sent out with an error on it. The key at the bottom of the calendar had the schedule reversed. The revised schedule can be printed off the township website (Click here REVISED 2020 Trash_Recycling schedule )or picked up at the Township office (if you do not already have the revision).
JP Mascaro’s, in most cases, is picking up earlier than the previous company, so if there isn’t a wind/weather issue being predicted we recommend putting your trash or recycling out the night before. In a few weeks they will not be making return trips to pick up trash/recycling that was not out when their trucks went through.
Do not put trash out in recycling bins or recycling out in trash bins. It is not the haulers responsibility to check every can or bag to make sure they only contain the proper item being picked up.
Paint your house number & street on your cans/bins/lids, so they can be returned to you if they blow away on a windy day.
Cardboard is NOT trash, with the exception of dirty food containers, for example: pizza boxes. Clean Cardboard is RECYCLING and should be put out on recycling day. Boxes should be flattened and numerous flattened boxes should be tied together.
Remember recycling can lids are still available for the blue recycling cans. You can pick one up at the Township Municipal Building (720 Brownsville Road).
We will continue to do what we can to make the trash/recycling pick-ups as convenient and easy for residents as possible, but we ask that residents also take responsibility for their trash and recycling. For example, when it’s windy, put a lid on the can to try to minimize as much as possible from blowing out of the cans. This keeps your neighborhood cleaner, your trash out of your neighbors’ yards, their trash out of yours, and prevents trash from ending up clogging storm drains.
All trash and recycling must be in trash cans or trash bags or recycling cans. Card board boxes should be broken down and put in the recycling bins or tied together.
Please be aware that RECYCLING BINS are NOT to be used as TRASH BINS. Starting Monday (February 17, 2020) any trash put into Recycling bins for Monday trash pick-ups will not be picked up. As they are picking up trash, the trash company notifies us of addresses that have put out trash in recycling bins and they will not return to pick up trash that was originally put out in Recycling bins.
