This week has seen a lot of questions concerning a pest control company solicitating in Lower Heidelberg Township (and surrounding municipalities). The company goes by “Aptive” or simply by “Pest Control”. We can’t speak for other municipalities, but Lower Heidelberg Township DOES require a solicitation permit to have been filed with the Township. The permit approval process includes a Background Check on each individual the company will have in the Township soliciting. As of Friday morning, this company has not even been into the Township office to fill out the paperwork, so THEY ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BE SOLICITING IN LOWER HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP AT THIS TIME. Even if they come in today and fill out the paperwork the process for approval or denial would not be completed until sometime next week.
Anyone soliciting in Lower Heidelberg Township is required to carry the approved permit with them and MUST produce it for residents to see upon request. Reports we have received have some of the solicitations from this company taking place after 8:00 PM. This in and of itself is not permitted. This company has been informed by numerous Township personnel of the process and has ignored it, so at this time if they are found to be soliciting here they will be fined. If you see them in your neighborhood or they approach you soliciting, please call the Township’s non-emergency police number M-F, 9-3: 610-678-3011 and M-F after 3 PM, weekends and holidays: 610-655-4911. If they make threatening or derogatory remarks toward you, call 911 immediately. In all cases call the Police immediately, do not wait – there isn’t anything the Police can do if they have left the area.
